This is an Interactive website I designed based in Abruzzo, Italy. In summer of 2024, I lived there for a month in a small town called Pacentro. During my stay in Italy, I created this simple interactive website using Figma and Photoshop, which includes a landing page, a gallery page, and an about page. The website serves as an archive where users can explore the rich history, culture, and natural beauty of Abruzzo. It features stunning locations such as Rocca Calascio, Borgo Universo, Roccascalegna, and Gole di San Martino, among others. Through this project, I aimed to encapsulate the enchanting stories, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant traditions of this timeless Italian region. Here is a link to the Figma Prototype.
PACENTRO
Pacentro left a lasting impression with its stunning mountain views and warm locals. Though initially nervous, I quickly felt at home thanks to our kind landlord, Luisa, and the welcoming atmosphere from classmates and professors. The only thing I am not gonna miss are the mosquito bites. Those bites were a very small price to pay for such an amazing experience.
COLOR SYSTEM
In designing the website for my project "Magico Abruzzo," I used colors drawn directly from the images, aiming to create an earthy vibe that reflects my experience of living surrounded by nature during my time in Abruzzo. The natural tones and elements bring the beauty of the region to life on the website, enhancing the immersive experience for users.
TYPOGRAPHY
For the website design, I chose the Modish font for the title "Magico Abruzzo" to match the common cursive style used in Abruzzo’s titles and logos. For the content, I used Lato, a sans-serif font, for its simplicity, legibility, and clean appearance, enhancing clarity on an archive-style website.
ROCCASCALEGNA
Roccascalegna, a stunning medieval fortress situated on a dramatic rocky outcrop. The landscape was breathtaking. Dating back to the 7th century, this castle boasts a rich history and gained additional fame by being featured in Matteo Garrone's 2015 film "The Tale of Tales."
BORGO UNIVERSO
In the picturesque village of Aielli, Abruzzo, the Borgo Universo street art project transforms the town into an open-air gallery. Artists worldwide gather annually to create stunning murals that turn ordinary walls into powerful expressions of unity and respect for life, fostering cultural exchange, environmental awareness, and community bonding.
ROCCA CALASCIO
In the captivating Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, we explored Campo Imperatore, the medieval Rocca Calascio fortress, and the town of Castel del Monte. With Abruzzo Film Commission President Piercesare Stagni, we learned how these scenic spots featured in films like *The American* (2010) and *Ladyhawke* (1985). Finally, we visited the regional capital, L’Aquila.
