The endless Bickering of Father & Daughter-Tangled Bonds

Graphic Design II + Winter 2024 + Book Jacket

This is another academic warm-up project from my Graphic Design II class. The assignment was to imagine myself as a writer and publisher and create a book that I would publish. I chose to create an imaginary book titled "Tangled Bonds: The Endless Bickering of Father & Daughter." This book does not exist; it's a fictional concept I developed for this project.

Summery Of The Book

"Tangled Bonds" explores the complex and dynamic relationship between a father and his daughter. The story delves into the unique nuances of their love, highlighted by their frequent bickering and playful arguments. Although their interactions are filled with apparent conflicts, it becomes clear that these moments of disagreement actually reflect a deep bond and affection between them. The narrative shows how love endures through the ups and downs of family life, celebrating the resilience and unconditional nature of the father-daughter relationship.

Design Overview

For the book cover design, I wanted to capture the essence of the story by illustrating a father and daughter in a moment of conversation, reflecting both their connection and their disagreements. I used a warm, soothing color palette with green as the main background to convey a sense of calm and comfort. The illustration style is simple yet expressive, focusing on their facial expressions to highlight their relationship dynamics.

On the back cover, I included fictional reviews from well-known media outlets, adding a touch of realism and credibility to the imaginary book. I also wrote a brief summary to give readers a glimpse of what the book is about. The spine of the book includes the title, my name, and a small design element to make it visually appealing on a bookshelf. The overall design balances a professional layout with personal and emotional elements, reflecting both the content and the style of the book.
